The last and third and most innovative module of the LIFE-C course is called “Social life cycle assessment and life cycle costing”. With this module dedicated to social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC), we aim to close the topic of life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) by covering the topics of environmental, social, and economic impact assessment of human activities in a variety of interdisciplinary sectors. In this module, students will get familiar with the S-LCA and LCC concepts and methodology based on lectures and materials delivered by the very specialists who are taking part in its continuous development.
In this module, the final assignment is a review of an S-LCA or LCC study, similar to the Module 1, performed and finally presented by the students and course participants.
The learning outcomes of the third module are aimed to provide holistic understanding of the three pillars of sustainability, understanding the need for S-LCA and LCC, knowing the differences between social and environmental LCA, being able to conduct a simple LCC analysis, and identifying the social hotspots.
