The GaBi LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) software is a robust tool for assessing the environmental impacts of diverse products, technologies, services, and systems. The GaBi software facilitates the creation of analyses for conducting life cycle assessments (LCA), Design for Environment (DFE), or ecodesign, which can aid in the production of environmentally sustainable products.

This includes reducing the product’s environmental footprint, minimising carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing water consumption, and minimising waste generation. Through the use of GaBi Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Life Cycle Working Environment (LCWE), users can conduct evaluations.

In addition to the well-known ecoinvent database, diverse industries such as electronics, chemicals, plastics, and construction have access to a comprehensive Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) database. The databases are capable of evaluating the environmental impact of products and operations.

GaBi comes in two versions namely GaBi Education License and GaBi demo. The features of both versions are discussed below.

Here is an overview of common features found in GaBi Demo software:

GaBi Demo

  • Free Trial Period : Users can try GaBi software for 30 days for free.
  • Sector Specificity: The software is versatile and not limited to specific sectors, making it applicable across various industries.
  • Database Trial: Even though a limited trial version of the database is available, users can still access and evaluate its functionality..
  • Software Running: GaBi is compatible with personal computers (PCs), allowing users to utilise the software on their own devices.
  • Database Territoriality (Limited To): GaBi software offers global data from its database.
  • Impact Assessment Methods: Users can assess the environmental impacts using Recipe and CML models and different assessment methods for analysis. The software does not incorporate Environmental Footprint (Ef) evaluation.
  • Presentation of results: The software lets users display results of assessments in tables but lacks histograms, tree charts, and Sankey diagrams.
  • Possibility To Export Results: Users can export their results to preserve and analyse them outside of GaBi.
  • Tutorial Availability: GaBi provides users with access to many tutorials and educational resources, offering comprehensive support and guidance in utilizing the software’s features and functionalities.
