EcoImpact-COMPASS, a screening LCA solution, is simple, affordable, and reliable enterprise level suite of product and packaging sustainability software to manage the corporate sustainability goals.

The case studies analyse the packaging’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle (raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, and disposal). Each case study compares functionally identical packaging systems.

Each manufacturer submitted package-specific information (materials, masses, conversion processes, transportation, etc.) to model the packaging systems. This method identifies environmental footprint hotspots.

COMPASS was originally conceived at the SPC (Sustainable Packaging Coalition) as a pioneering tool designed for packaging engineers. This COMPASS tool employs industry-average LCI statistics for materials, manufacturing processes, and end-of-life consequences.

This report’s LCA can help with internal decision-making and trade-offs. COMPASS documents scope, assumptions, consistent boundary conditions, and data sources according to ISO 14040.

Here is an overview of common features found in EcoImpact-COMPASS software:

  • Free Trial Period: Users can access a 7-day free trial of the software.
  • Sector Specificity: The software is tailored specifically for the packaging sector.
  • Database Trial: In the trial version, users have access to the database.
  • Software Running: EcoImpact-COMPASS is an online software that can be accessed through a web browser.
  • Database Territoriality (Limited To): The database covers the following regions: USA, Canada, China, Europe, Mexico, Brazil, India, Australia, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
  • Impact Assessment Methods: impact assessment methods as Recipe, CML, Environmental Footprint (Ef) are not available. The impact assessment method includes several impact categories (fossil fuel use, GHG emissions, water use, freshwater eutrophication, mineral resource use, human impact, GHG emission with Carbon uptake, freshwater ecotoxicity), but in the trial version only FFU and GHG are visible.
  • Presentation of Results: –
  • Possibility to Export Results: Unfortunately, there is no option to export the results.
  • Tutorial Availability: There are few tutorials available for the software.
