Building-SAT (Building – Sustainability Assessment Tool) is a comprehensive cradle to grave Whole Building Life cycle Assessment tool that estimates the Global Warming Potential (GWP) kgCO2 – eq over the entire life cycle of the building, from construction to demolition.

Building complexes, office structures, homes, and everything that exists between can potentially be assessed with Building- SAT. Building- SAT can be used for assessments of brand-new buildings and renovated or preexisting structures.

It facilitates an Environmental Life Cycle Assessment of a selected building through a user-friendly process where items and procedures are taken into account.

This is accomplished by permitting the user to input the necessary data derived from a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and pertinent construction/structural drawings, phase by phase; Construction phase, Operation phase, and Demolition phase. Multiple integrated databases (material, machinery, transportation vehicles, etc.) are routinely updated on Building-SAT.

  • Presentation of results: The software generates tabular results, enabling users to view and analyse data in a structured manner. Moreover, it provides histograms for data visualisation. However, support for tree charts and Sankey diagrams for result presentation is not mentioned.
  • Possibility To Export Results: The software does not provide the option to export assessment results.
  • Tutorial Availability: Building-SAT offers some tutorials to assist users in navigating and utilizing the software effectively.

Final results are reported with respect to the three life cycle phases (construction, operation and dismantling). Results are provided in tables and graphs with respect to machineries, materials and transport used in each lufe cycle stage and as total valu. A synthesis of the project is presented. The sustainability of the project can be improved by selecting appropriate reccomendations.
